June 12, 2024
ATLANTIC CITY – Brighton Avenue School held its Kindergarten Stepping Ceremony on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
Parents, students, friends and supporters filled the second-floor auditorium to cheer on the graduates clad in green caps and gowns for the 9:30 a.m. ceremony. Dr. LaKecia Hyman, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, attended in her doctoral cap and gown.
Principal Jason Grimes said it was important for the students to have a graduation experience because the school does not go to eighth grade. “Anything we do at Brighton is top-notch,” said Grimes. “It shows the importance of the ceremony. Our green symbolizes growth.” Students received iReady Awards, Honor Roll Awards and Stepping Up certificates. “Anytime we can have a community event, we have great parent and community support,” Grimes said. “It’s a great step in the right direction.”
