ABOUT PRINCIPAL GRIMES

Mr. Jason Grimes became the principal of Brighton Avenue Elementary School effective January 2024. He brings twenty years of educational experience as a teacher and administrator, as well as a strong passion for learning. He was raised in Williamstown, NJ. He graduated from Williamstown High School and went on to attend the Pennsylvania State University. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Health and Physical Education in 2004. He immediately started his career in education as high school health and physical education teacher at the Atlantic County Institute of Technology. After two years, he transitioned to the Atlantic City Public School District where he began teaching all grade levels of Health, Physical Education, and Driver’s Education at Atlantic City High School. In addition, he has coached many high school sports teams during his tenure and believes that teamwork is the key to success.

During Mr. Grimes’ teaching tenure, his passion and curiosity for learning continued to grow, leading him to pursue and earn his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Rowan University in 2017. In the Fall of 2017, he began serving as the vice principal at Atlantic City High School. For the past seven years as an administrator, he has continued to build strong relationships with students, families and community members. Mr. Grimes stated, “When you begin and end with the students in mind, you will surely be on the path to academic growth and student achievement. I will continue to ensure that we create a safe, fun, and student-centered learning environment that is rich with technology. I am committed to fostering a growth mindset for all students attending Brighton Avenue Elementary School. Our dedicated staff will bring out the best in every child and provide wrap around support and services that will allow each and every child to flourish.” He is excited and committed to implementing the school district’s social and emotional learning (SEL) initiative currently taking place and has already seen the positive impact it has had on the students of the Atlantic City Public School District.

Mr. Grimes is married with an 8-year-old son. He is a firm believer in health and wellness and enjoys working out and coaching his son’s youth sports teams. In his free time, he loves to travel and explore warm destinations and islands. He is an avid football and baseball sports fan and enjoys playing golf.
