Brighton Avenue School’s very own Fatima Akram placed 3rd in the Atlantic City School District’s Oratorical Contest on Friday, January 31, 2020. Fatima is a 4th grade student in Mrs. Williams’ class. She stood bravely behind the microphone on the stage in the auditorium of the Atlantic City High School, addressing an audience of students, parents, and district staff. Fatima spoke with clarity and earnestness, carefully delivering key points to the crowd. The competition was tough, but Fatima’s animated speech won the judges and crowd over, earning her a 3rd place award.
Fatima composed and recited an original speech created around the following topic: How does recreational and organized youth athletics support and contribute to a community’s educational system, economy, and overall general well being of its members? How can we strengthen both recreational and youth athletics in our own community, Atlantic City? What are the benefits and roadblocks? Why is it important?
