Dear Parents and Guardians:

The Atlantic City School District has always emphasized the safety and wellness of our students, staff, and community. Recently, there has been a heightened awareness and concern in the United States of the possible spread of the Coronavirus. The New Jersey Department of Education, in coordination with the New Jersey Department of Health, has issued guidance for schools in order to communicate potential impacts and mitigate the risks of the virus. The latest guidance provided, encourages school districts to monitor student and staff health concerns if they arise and to continue practicing the preventative measures recommended through the Center for Disease Control. We are working to do all of these on a daily basis to support the wellness of our students and staff.

The Atlantic City School District has been diligent throughout the cold and flu season using best practices to maintain the cleanliness of our building and encourage prevention habits. We will remain proactive in monitoring the status of the Coronavirus, communicating any further directives, and maintaining health and wellness best practices. As with any situation related to the health of our students and community, we will continue to coordinate with certified health professionals within our school, communicate with the NJDOE and New Jersey Department of Health as needed, and monitor any updates that may arise.

If you would like more information about the Coronavirus, we encourage you to visit the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/index.html. The New Jersey Department of Health is also regularly updating their website about the virus and how it is impacting our area at https://www.nj.gov/health/. If you or your student recently traveled abroad or are not feeling well, please avoid coming to the school in order to reduce the spread of illness.

Once again, the health and safety of our students, staff, and community is a top priority of Atlantic City Schools. We will continue to provide you with any updates and information as necessary.

Best regards.
