Congratulations to the 2025–2026 Atlantic City Public Schools Volleyball Champions!

ATLANTIC CITY - Congratulations to all of the student-athletes who competed in the 2025–2026 Atlantic City Board of Education Volleyball season. The level of competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship on display throughout the season was outstanding.

Jason Lantz, Extracurricular Elementary Athletics Teacher Coordinator for Atlantic City Public Schools, said Volleyball is gaining popularity throughout the district.

"The future is bright," said Lantz. "Volleyball is one of the most popular sports at the elementary and middle school levels. We never have enough spots."

5th/6th Grade Coed Division

In the 5th/6th Grade Coed Division, Richmond Avenue School captured the district championship by sweeping Chelsea Heights School in two straight sets (2–0). The Richmond Avenue School team shows promise, Lantz said.

"Richmond Avenue is a younger group. They'll get two-to-three years to play together." Lantz said. " I'm interested to see how they develop over the years."

7th/8th Grade Coed Division

In the 7th/8th Grade Coed Division, Texas Avenue School earned the district championship with a decisive two-set sweep (2–0) over Chelsea Heights School.

Lantz said the Texas Avenue School team had an opportunity to grow together and mesh as a team.

"A few years ago Texas Avenue had a really good 5th/6th grade team. Now those students are in 7th and 8th grades," Lantz said. He added that part of Texas Avenue School's success comes from increased interest.

"It's a progression," Lantz said. "In their recess, they play volleyball. Just like you see kids with basketballs, or kicking soccer balls, now you see kids with volleyballs in the neighborhoods."

Texas Avenue School Principal Lina Gil celebrated her students for their hard work.

"On behalf of the Texas Avenue School community, I extend my congratulations to our school’s 7th-8th grade volleyball team," said Gil. "We are very proud of you." The principal also acknowledged the athletes and staff members who made the victory possible.

"Special congratulations to Sakib Areman, as he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and to our other standout performances from Safwan Chowdhury, Thu Le, Ishmam Hakib, and Sandra Tiul-Paau," Gil said.  "I also want to commend the dedicated efforts of the coaches, Mr. Knott and Mr. Perry, who guided and motivated the team throughout this journey."

Lantz noted that the Chelsea Heights Volleyball program is also strong. Both the school's 5th/6th grade and 7th/8th grade teams made it to the championships. "Although they came up short, it's a testament to the program that both their teams made it to championship games," Lantz said.
