Atlantic City Public School Hosts "Build Your Own Parfait" Workshop to Promote Healthy Eating at Brighton Avenue School

ATLANTIC CITY - The Atlantic City Public Schools Early Childhood Department held a “Build Your Own Parfait” workshop on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Brighton Avenue School to encourage healthy eating within the school community.
The event was designed to give families practical tools for making nutritious choices, with the parfait workshop serving as a fun and interactive centerpiece. Parents and their children gathered in the cafeteria, where they watched short videos about healthy eating and played informational games before heading to the parfait station.
Parents and children alike filled their cups with yogurt, granola, fresh strawberries, and blueberries. Staff members were on hand to guide participants and answer questions about healthy eating habits.
Principal James Grimes said the workshop is part of the school’s effort to strengthen community connections.
“This is where we build our foundation,” Grimes said. “Just like they built a parfait from the ground up, this is how we build our relationships.”
Cinthya Llerna, teacher coordinator for preschool, said parents receive recipes and are encouraged to focus on healthy habits, strengthening the connection between home and school. “We give them things to take away as we focus on health and fitness,” Llerna said.
The Atlantic City Public Schools Early Childhood Department plans to host similar workshops throughout the year, continuing its commitment to fostering healthy lifestyles and strong school-community relationships.
“We continue to offer programs where parents can come into the building, see what’s happening in our school, and build partnerships,” Grimes said.
